If I had to choose one favorite weekend activity, I’d hands-down have to say visiting breweries. And while I’ve visited tons of different breweries over the years, I always come back to one that stands out above the rest – Gate City Brewing in Rowell, GA (a small town north of Atlanta, for those of you not familiar with or new to the area.)
What makes Gate City so great? Where do I even begin….
Let’s start with the beer, since that’s what they do best. Honestly, I’ve never had anything I didn’t love there so it’s not even worth listing any off but I will tell you there’s something for everyone – pale ales, porters, sours, IPAs. And if you aren’t a beer fan, don’t worry! They offer some of the best pre-made cocktails I’ve ever had (try the lemonade based ones!) and even have The Artillery Room (we’ll do a post on that specifically later!)
So what else makes Gate City stand out? The vibe is the best out there. When I set out choosing a brewery, I always pull up pictures to see if they have an outdoor area because the only thing that makes a good beer better is the ability to drink it while also enjoying the beautiful weather. They have tons of space, tons of televisions to watch your favorite game, and did I mention it’s ALL dog-friendly? Seriously, tons of dogs makes it a blast.
They also host tons of events such as small concerts, axe throwing (really, can’t make this up!), and cornhole competitions so if you’re looking for something to do I encourage you to look at their event calendar. There’s also almost always a food truck on site, so while they don’t serve food there’s always plenty of options either from the fantastic restaurants next door or via the food trucks just steps away from where you’re sitting.
If you’ve been to Gate City, please share your thoughts with us in the comments as well as recommend other places we should check out!
Cheers!
