Wolf Man was one of those movies I knew I’d see, but I wasn’t sure if I’d actually enjoy it. The trailer looked intriguing, and while I’ll watch just about anything, I often find myself liking films more than the average critic. So going into this one, I expected a fun time—even if it wasn’t necessarily a great movie.
To my surprise, Wolf Man turned out to be pretty solid. The casting was strong, and while the backstories were minimal, they weren’t confusing or distracting. Werewolf movies can be hit or miss, often leaning toward the latter, but for most of its runtime, this one seemed like it might actually pull it off. The suspense kept me engaged, the atmosphere was tense, and it delivered just the right amount of action.
That being said, the final act lost me. Without spoiling too much, there’s a werewolf-on-werewolf fight that felt oddly staged—almost too human. I know werewolf transformations come with a mix of beastly and human traits, but something about this particular scene felt unintentionally funny. I actually caught myself giggling in the theater, which definitely wasn’t the intended reaction.
Despite that, I’d still recommend seeing Wolf Man—especially in theaters. It’s the kind of film that thrives on the big screen, with its immersive visuals and suspenseful pacing. It’s also refreshingly short, packing enough action and tension to never overstay its welcome. If you’re a fan of monster movies or just looking for an entertaining escape, Wolf Man is a fun, worthwhile watch.
