One of Them Days Review: A Fresh Take on Friendship and Comedy

I watch a lot of movies in theaters, which means I see even more movie previews. Over the course of about six weeks, I probably saw the preview for One of Them Days at least ten times. Despite this, the movie still managed to surprise me with how often it made me laugh out loud. Usually, the funniest moments are spoiled in the trailer, leaving little to enjoy when the full movie rolls around. Not the case here—One of Them Days delivers plenty of fresh laughs beyond what you’ve already seen.

This buddy comedy stars Keke Palmer and SZA, who bring fantastic energy and undeniable chemistry to their roles. The plot revolves around two best friends scrambling to pay rent after discovering their money has gone missing, and the resulting chaos is both hilarious and stressful (in the best way). It’s a relatively short film, and while it has the expected ups and downs, it never drags. If anything, I found myself so invested that I felt like it was my rent money that was due!

While this movie may not be destined for award season, it’s an underrated gem that deserves more attention. Releasing it in January feels like a missed opportunity—this could have easily been a standout summer hit. Its sharp humor, fast-paced storytelling, and memorable one-liners are all perfect for a crowd-pleasing experience.

Speaking of one-liners, this movie is packed with them. I won’t spoil any, but I suspect fans will be quoting it for years. Whether you’re looking for a good laugh or just something to take your mind off things, One of Them Days is worth your time.

Would I want a sequel? Honestly, no—this movie feels complete as is, and I wouldn’t want a follow-up to diminish its charm. But would I watch a sequel if they made one? Absolutely!

If you’re a fan of comedies that combine heart, humor, and a bit of chaos, add One of Them Days to your watchlist. You won’t regret it.
